Amidst Tragedy, God Is Good

Early Wednesday morning, June 14, the house of our assistant principal, Darrell Roecker and his wife Tami, caught fire due to a blocked vent that led away from the water heater. Praise God that all evacuated the house without injuries. Thanks to a firewall, the house was not a total loss, but a significant portion was destroyed. As a result, their home is undergoing restoration for an estimated six months during which time the Roeckers will stay in temporary housing.
In situations like this, one often says, "At least I can pray." Actually, that is the most we can do. Among other requests, we ask the God who graciously spared the Roeckers physical harm to give them strength and patience in the days ahead and to see the blessings God will work through this trial. Though the Roeckers are now dealing with many complications, they are grateful to God that all family members are safe and that, as Darrell has said, "This could have been so much worse."

At present, WLHS Central Office is receiving monetary contributions to support the Roeckers. Anyone interested in donating may do so through WLHS. Please call the school office at 414-453-4567 if you have questions. Thank you for your prayers.
