An estimated 2,000 schools across the country participated in the March 14 observances against school violence. At WLHS, administration called for a white-out (wearing white clothing) as a call for peace. Many students and faculty participated. In our weekly Lenten chapel service, Pastor Huebner brought a focus to the ultimate source of peace—Jesus Christ—in a world that is given to violence. Only a relationship with him will bring lasting peace.
Administration closed the assembly with an announcement about future plans to prepare for an armed intruder and a prayer that asked our God to use tragedy to bring glory to himself and turn people toward Him, for comfort to survivors, for protection, wisdom, and freedom from fear.
