Congratulations to Vicente Janik ('21) and Melissa Tonn ('21), who were selected as Viking Christian Leaders for the month of May under “The Wisco Way Word": Faith. We thank God for the way Vicente and Melissa have modeled servant leadership at school and in the community. Any student or staff member may nominate a student for the Viking Christian Leadership Award which is presented each month to one young man and one young woman.
Vicente Janik is from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and attended grade school at St. John’s in Milwaukee, where he is also a member.
A 2021 graduate of Wisco, Vicente has participated in track, cross country, and the Viking Christian Leadership Academy.
In his spare time, Vicente enjoys playing guitar train, working with teammates, and relaxing with friends.
After graduation from Wisconsin Lutheran High School, Vicente plans to pursue a degree in criminal justice at Arizona State University, where he has been awarded a scholarship to run track and field.
Vicente characterizes faith in Christian leadership as trusting in the plans that God has for you, regardless of any thoughts you might have as to how it may turn out.
Melissa Tonn is from West Allis, Wisconsin. She attended grade school at St. Paul’s Muskego, where she is a member.
A 2021 graduate of Wisco, Melissa has participated in volleyball, softball, VCLA, NHS, Student Council, WWW, and Photo Club. She has also gone on mission trips to Lafayette, Indiana, and Las Vegas, Nevada.
Melissa has volunteered at her church by serving as a Sunday School teacher and nursery overseer and has helped at Christmas for Kids and Easter for Kids.
In her spare time, Melissa enjoys playing softball, spending time with friends, and being outside.
After graduation from Wisconsin Lutheran High School, Melissa plans to attend Wisconsin Lutheran College for occupational therapy.
Melissa characterizes faith in Christian leadership as having trust in God and the people around you. Faith also means continually striving to grow closer in a relationship with God and always shining your light for others to see.
