This course is designed for students who have special interests and abilities in the life sciences. The course is designed to help students understand, explain, analyze and interpret biological processes that God uses to sustain His living creation. Students will be expected to spend some time outside of the regular class period in laboratory activities. Students are also encouraged to take the Advanced Placement exam in Biology.

This course is designed to be the equivalent to a general chemistry taken in college. The course teaches the fundamentals and competence in dealing with chemical problems. In addition, the course will contribute to the development of students’ abilities to think clearly and express their ideas, orally and in writing, with clarity and logic. This two-semester course examines the nature of living things—plant, animal and human.  Their structure, growth, workings, reproduction, and their relationships to the rest of creation are stressed. Considerable emphasis is put on lab work.

This two-semester elective course is open to students who have successfully completed Algebra 1 and Biology. It features a study of chemical compounds and their reactions. Theoretical interpretations and practical applications are stressed. Laboratory work allows students to discover or verify basic principles.

This is a college-prep course for students who have a special interest in physical science. Earth Science involves the study of the earth’s landforms, oceans, and atmosphere. In addition, students study planetary science with a special emphasis on God’s creation.

General College Physics is a year-long introductory course for advanced students who want to better understand the natures of the things we see around us.   Emphasis is on theoretical topics, careful thinking, laboratory experiments, and problem-solving. The aim is to help students succeed and have fun while learning physics. This is a dual-credit course offered in collaboration with Wisconsin Lutheran College.

The Honors Biology curriculum is an introductory course taught in two semesters. This course places a higher priority on developing critical thinking skills by examining real-world problems. The Honors Biology curriculum examines topics with more depth and includes more advanced resource material. Honors Biology labs are more sophisticated than in the standard biology curriculum. Students in Honors Biology will be well prepared for AP Biology

Human Anatomy & Physiology is a course that will enable students to develop an understanding of the relationships between the structures and functions of the pinnacle of God’s creation, the human body. Students will also learn the mechanisms for maintaining homeostasis within the human body and pathology of the different systems. This course will involve laboratory activities, projects, dissections, textbook material, models, diagrams, journal writings, and clinical studies. Students interested in becoming nurses, doctors, athletic trainers and the like will benefit from this course.

Students learn essential concepts of physics through demonstrations, laboratory work, and discussion. Careful gathering and analysis of quantitative data is stressed. Some of the topics covered in this course are mechanics, electricity and magnetism, sound, and light. The course stresses God’s preeminence over his creation and demonstrates the order of his work.
