This is the first year that WLHS students participated in Wisconsin Battle of the Books. Each year, the Wisconsin Educational Media & Technology Association (WEMTA) publishes a list of 20 books to be used in the statewide Battle of the Books. Per the competition rules, only a few students may participate in this knowledge-based challenge. The team divided up which books each would read, and then in an afternoon participated against 30 other schools to test their familiarity of the books. Wisco's team took home ninth place in their first year of competition! This gives the team honors club status for the 2025 year.
Team members agreed that the best part of the competition was selecting books they never would have picked to read, but then also participating in a challenge to test their knowledge.
The statewide Battle of the Books program is designed to promote a love of reading among Wisconsin students.
