At Wisconsin Lutheran High School (WLHS), Academic and Career Planning (ACP) is not just a curriculum addition-it’s a mission that is student driven and focused. Designed to empower students and support families, ACP helps young adults set goals, explore opportunities, and chart a path to success after graduation.
What is ACP?
Academic and Career Planning (ACP) is a student-driven, adult-supported journey that begins as early as middle school. At WLHS, students use the Xello platform starting in 9th grade to discover personality traits, interests, and career matches. They then combine these insights with academic goal‑setting and real-world experiences in the 10-11th grades to build robust, personalized future plans. By 12th grade most students at WLHS have completed various courses and experiences in their desired career pathway and are ready to complete several capstone experiences.
Why ACP Matters?
ACP is more than course selection; it's building self-awareness, developing career identity, and fostering post-secondary readiness. Research shows that students engaged in structured planning are more likely to stay motivated, succeed academically, and make informed decisions-whether that leads to college or a skilled trade In Wisconsin, ACP ties directly into state goals to help students and families make better-informed choices about education, training, and careers.
