Disassembling and Rebuilding a Lawnmower

As the school year begins, our Principles of Engineering students are diving into one of PLTW’s most hands-on projects: disassembling and rebuilding a real Toro lawn mower engine. Through careful documentation, analysis, and reassembly, students explore mechanical systems while applying concepts from thermodynamics, mechanics, and materials science. This project not only sharpens technical skills but also builds teamwork, problem-solving, and resilience. It's a powerful example of how PLTW prepares students for real-world engineering challenges.
