  • Concert Band

    The Viking Concert Band meets daily as a course option and is open to all members of the student body with the ability to play a band instrument. The band consists of a competitive marching band in the fall and a concert band for the remainder of the year. Four major concert performances are given throughout the year. Placement within the group is by audition. Keyboard/piano players may inquire about mallet percussion instruments opportunities.
  • Choirs

    All choirs meet daily as a course option. The choirs present three major concerts each year and sing at conference congregations on a rotational basis. The A Cappella Choir consists of sophomores, juniors, and seniors. It is a mixed choir which requires auditions for entrance. Cantorei is a female choir consisting of sophomores, juniors, and seniors. No audition is necessary to be in this choir. The Freshman Choir is a mixed choir and is open to all freshmen who desire to continue a structured singing experience beyond the grade school level.
  • Instrumental Ensembles

    Jazz Ensemble is a co-curricular ensemble which requires auditions. Performances are held throughout the year for grade schools, churches, benefit concerts, and Prism concerts. Rehearsals are scheduled once per week for 90 minutes. Electric guitar, bass guitar, and piano players are also encouraged to audition.

    Pep Band is normally restricted to members of the Viking Band. No audition is necessary. Performances are at selected athletic events and pep rallies. Most rehearsals take place immediately prior to performances.
  • Co-Curricular Choirs

    Inspiration is a co-curricular vocal group which sings Christian contemporary and vocal jazz music. Membership, by audition only, is determined each spring for the following school year.

    Wisco Kids Show Choir is a co-curricular vocal group which performs a choreographed show of popular music. Membership, by audition only, is determined each spring for the following school year. Jubilation, a handbell choir, performs at all choral concerts, and many school and community events throughout the year. Members are selected by audition, and open to all students.
  • Co-Curricular Instrumental Ensembles

    Co-curricular instrumental ensembles are students who are in normally in the Viking Band and include:
    • Jazz Ensemble
    • Jazz Lab Band
    • Woodwind Ensemble
    • Saxophone Ensemble
    • Brass Ensemble
    • Percussion Ensemble
    • Steel Band
    • Pit Orchestra
    • Percussion Quartet
    • Marching Band
    These ensembles rehearse after school.
  • Color Guard

    Tryouts for the Color Guard are normally restricted to members of the Viking Band. Students may try out for either flags or rifles. Most of the performances are coordinated with the marching unit of the Viking Band.

  • WELS 2019 National Band Fest Hosts Needed

    Wisconsin Lutheran High School is excited to host the 2019 WELS National Band Fest on Friday, March 15 through Sunday, March 17. As the festival host school, the high school needs to provide housing for about 100 students and directors. If you are interested in hosting you will need to: provide transportation to and from the festival each day, living accommodations for two or more students, and breakfasts or snacks.
