Celebrating Black History Month 2025
On February 11, WLHS celebrated Black History Month with a school-wide assembly under the theme "Reconstructing our Roots - Rediscovering our cultural identity, history, values, and faith through the church." Assistant Principal CL Whiteside ('06) opened with a message from Matthew 20:20-28 about what it means to accept the world's identity packages, when what we should be accepting is our identity in Christ.
After chapel, students shared messages of history, hope, and positive change through songs, poems, step and dance routines, and more. How blessed we are to celebrate the many cultures in our student body.
