The WLHS math department is dedicated to helping students grow both spiritually and academically—and that same commitment extends to their own professional growth. This year, the department has been engaged in a book study called The Thinking Classroom. One of the key strategies they’ve implemented to boost engagement involves forming randomized student groups, using vertical whiteboards, and emphasizing collaborative problem-solving.
The early results have been overwhelmingly positive. Walk down the math hallway on any given day, and you’ll see (and hear!) students standing, talking through ideas, and actively thinking together—proof that learning at Wisco truly adds up.
