On October 14, Wisconsin Lutheran College hosted a High School Leadership Day for several WELS schools. Wisconsin Lutheran High School was blessed to bring 118 students from our Viking Christian Leadership Academy (VCLA) to join more than 250 total participants. Guest speaker and WLC alumnus Mr. Derek Deprey (‘02) delivered an inspiring keynote, Everyday Leaders: Small Actions, Big Results, reminding students that leadership isn’t a title—it’s the way we serve and influence others daily.
He focused on four key areas of “everyday” leadership: Mission, Community, Tenacity, and Gratitude. Following the keynote and Q&A, WLC’s Christian Leadership Program led breakout sessions where students from different schools collaborated to explore practical ways to apply these principles in their classrooms, teams, families, and communities. It was an energizing day of Christ-centered leadership, reflection, and action—living out Galatians 5:13, “Serve one another in love.”
