WLHS Honors Coach Baacke ('84) and Welcomes New Head Coach

Wisconsin Lutheran High School proudly celebrates Coach Dave Baacke ('84) for his 19 seasons of faithful leadership and impact on the Wisco Volleyball program. After seven years as Junior Varsity Coach and twelve as Varsity Head Coach, Coach Baacke is stepping down from his coaching role, leaving behind a legacy of excellence, faith, and care for his players.

Under his leadership, Wisco Volleyball earned two Woodland Conference titles (2018, 2021), two State Tournament appearances (2019, 2022), and he reached a milestone 300th career victory, finishing with 315 wins—the most in program history.
More than his record, Coach Baacke is known for his commitment to developing student-athletes in mind, body, and spirit, integrating resources for mental health, nutrition, and faith growth into his program. “Dave has been a dedicated leader for our volleyball program,” shared Athletic Director Micah Walz. “His love for volleyball, his players, and his Lord have always been evident in his coaching.”

WLHS is also pleased to announce that Coach Meghan Mache will serve as the new Head Coach of Wisco Volleyball. A former All-American middle blocker for the Marquette Golden Eagles, Coach Mache played in four NCAA Tournaments and was a member of the 2013 BIG EAST Championship team. With over 10 years of coaching experience—including last season as Assistant Coach to Mr. Baacke—she brings both high-level playing experience and a heart for ministry.

Coach Mache also teaches math at WLHS and is eager to continue building on the strong foundation Coach Baacke has established.

Thank you, Coach Baacke, for your years of service and for modeling leadership the Wisco Way—and congratulations, Coach Mache!
