Celebrating Support & Success on National Special Education Day
December 2 is National Special Education Day, a nationwide celebration of the students, families, and educators who work together to support diverse learning needs. At Wisconsin Lutheran High School, we believe every student deserves the support they need to flourish — academically, socially, and spiritually. That’s why our Student Success Center (SSC) stands as a cornerstone of individualized support for learners with a wide range of needs.
What the SSC offers:
Our SSC provides tailored support for students who qualify for an Individualized Learning Plan (ILP) or who have academic, health-related, or physical learning needs. Services may include:
Extended time on quizzes and tests
Access to class notes
Breaking large projects into smaller, manageable steps
Planner assistance and organization coaching
Small-group testing environments
In addition, all SSC-supported students receive weekly grade checks, daily accountability support, and structured check-ins to help with planning, focus, and follow-through.
Why this work matters: The SSC ensures that students with learning differences — and those needing additional academic support — can fully participate in Wisco’s rigorous, Christ-centered learning environment. This program reflects our deep commitment to valuing each student’s God-given gifts and helping them grow in confidence, independence, and success.
We are grateful for our dedicated SSC staff — Director Randall Strutz, Mrs. Stephanie Lamas, Mr. Kenton Fabian, and Mrs. Liz Koester — whose compassion, expertise, and partnership with families make this work possible.
On this National Special Education Day, we celebrate the blessing of inclusive education at WLHS and thank God for the students, parents, and educators who help make success possible for every learner.
