In 2023, a WLHS mission team led by social studies teacher Sarah Bauer traveled to Willis, Texas, just north of Houston, to support The Mission Church—pastored by Rev. Jeremy Mattek—through neighborhood canvassing and participation in the local Fourth of July parade. This month, several of those students returned for the dedication of The Mission’s new church building. They eagerly jumped back into service, preparing flavored lemonades and iced teas, assisting with setup and cleanup for the reception, reconnecting with the congregation, and witnessing firsthand how God is blessing their ministry.
Traveling students included alumni Jaxon Raabe (’23), Will Hotchkiss (’23), Ziggy Johnston (’23), and Jack Bloomquist (’24); and current students Lexie Bauer (’26) and Catie Bauer (’29). Both Bauer sisters also joined the original trip with their mom.
