Students Gain Real-World Insight at Cybersecurity Event
WLHS seniors Kelvin Hernandez and Joey Gu, accompanied by Business Chair Mr. Goede and Director of Student Services Mr. Davis, attended the IBAW Cybersecurity Event at The Wisconsin Club on October 17. The exclusive gathering connected them with Milwaukee-area business leaders and owners discussing today’s most urgent topic—digital defense.
Kelvin and Joey learned firsthand about the rising cybersecurity challenges facing local businesses and the growing need for professionals who can protect data and ensure system integrity. They discovered that careers in cybersecurity extend far beyond coding—encompassing roles like forensic analysts, ethical hackers, risk assessors, and consultants who help small businesses implement affordable, effective security solutions.
This real-world experience gave both students valuable insight into how cybersecurity serves as a vital, high-demand field on the front lines of today’s digital economy.
