Baseball Bounces Back With Late-Inning Heroics

The Viking baseball team appeared headed to a third consecutive loss on Wednesday when they headed into the top half of the 7th inning trailing Wauwatosa East 3-2. But before the inning was over, Wisco would bat around and score four times to register a 6-3 win over the Red Raiders and back up a solid complete-game pitching performance from Gavin Vrana.

Caleb Bilitz started the rally with a one-out single. Vrana followed with a single of his own before Kyle Ristow struck the big blow with a three-run home run to give his team the lead. The Vikings added one more when Carter Raabe drove in a run on a bunt, and Vrana made the lead stand up, striking out two of the three batters he faced in the bottom of the inning to close out the game.

Mason Ruh drove in two runs and Ristow added a double to go with his longball to lead the offense. Vrana pitched all seven innings and gave up five hits and three earned runs while striking out five.
