Viking Christian Leaders: Courage

Congratulations to Stephanie Hernandez ('20) and Adam Kriefall ('21) who were selected as Viking Christian Leaders for the month of March under “The Wisco Way Word": Courage. We thank God for the way Stephanie and Adam have modeled Christian courage at school and in the community. Any student or staff member may nominate a student for the Viking Christian Leadership Award which is presented each month to one young man and one young woman.
Stephanie is from Arlington, Va. and lives in our dormitory. She is a member at Grace Lutheran Church in Falls Church, Va. and also attended Grace Lutheran Grade School.

Currently a senior at Wisco, Stephanie has participated in Plautz Fund (12), National Honor Society (President) (12), Art Club (12), Culture Club (12), Viking e-sports (12), VCLA (12), attended WWW mission trips (11-12), Page Turners (11-12), attended the Cultural Connection Chicago Trip (11), was on Student Council (10-12), WWW (10-12) and AOC (9), Wrestling Auxiliary (10), Student Homes Leadership Team (Treasurer) (10), was on the Golf team (10), Photo Club (Student Leader) (9-11) and Video Club (9), Math Track (9-12) (JV and Varsity Captain), Honor Roll (9-12), Pilot (9-12), and Chess (9).

Stephanie has volunteered for Soles for Jesus, helped make food for the homeless and serve in soup pantries, photographer for the WLC Butterfly Brunch, and assisted at her church as summer Bible camp leader.

For fun, Stephanie enjoys photography.

After graduation from Wisconsin Lutheran High School, Stephanie is attending California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo Calif. for a degree in architecture.

Stephanie characterizes courage in Christian leadership as someone who leads by the courage to choose what is right, to be different, and to stand up for what is right on the behalf of others; to lead by being strong and loving while giving all glory to God.

Adam is from New Berlin, Wis. He is a member at Star of Bethlehem Lutheran Church where he also attended grade school.

Currently a junior at Wisco, Adam has participated in football (9), track (9-11), and cross country (10-11).

For fun, Adam enjoys running, traveling, spending time with friends, and video games.

While Adam has not decided on a college yet, he is looking to secure an apprenticeship.

Adam characterizes courage in Christian leadership as someone who does not fear when times are uncertain. Rather, a leader with courage is someone to look to when times are tough because he or she knows that everything is in God's hands.
