Boys Basketball Improves to 12-1

The Wisco basketball team added another solid non-conference win to its résumé with a 76-59 win at Arrowhead on Tuesday night.

Good ball movement, and strong defense in the first half helped the Vikings open a 37-18 halftime lead. They held the Warhawks to just 23% shooting before halftime. After the break, a 14-4 Arrowhead run trimmed the lead to just nine, 44-35, with 13 minutes still remaining. But Kon Knueppel and MJ Townsend powered an 18-7 spurt to end the threat. Knueppel scored seven points, grabbed three rebounds, and blocked a shot during the run and Townsend added five points and an assist during the same stretch, which staked the Vikings to a 62-42 lead with less than eight minutes to play.

Knueppel posted the first double-double of his high school career, leading the team with 20 points and 11 rebounds; he also added four assists. Jonah Rindfleisch just missed a double-double with a 14-point, nine-rebound effort. Landon Key scored 14 points and grabbed a team-high four steals, and Townsend provided an important spark off the bench with 11 points, five rebounds and three assists.

The Vikings enjoyed a 44-35 rebounding advantage and handed out 20 assists on the night. More stats are available here.
