Vikings Return to WLHS With Victory

For the first time in 11 months, the Vikings played a game in their own home gym. They celebrated by erupting for 44 points in the first half on their way to a 72-38 win over visiting Pius XI.

Isaiah Hopf got the team going early on. He scored the team's first nine points and punctuated things with a steal and slam to make it 9-2 Vikings in the early going. After Pius narrowed things to 15-10, Prentice Young scored six points in a quick 9-0 Wisco run to make the score 24-10 just over midway through the half. Kon Knueppel took over in the latter part of the half, connecting three times from behind the arc as the Vikings took a 44-20 lead into the break. The team pushed the advantage all the way to 41 in the second half before coasting in with a 72-38 win.

Knueppel and Hopf each shot a perfect 8-8 from the field en route to a season high in scoring. Knueppel finished with 23 points and added six rebounds and three assists. Hopf totaled 19 points to go along with five rebounds and three steals. Prentice Young added 16 points and Jonah Rindfleisch blocked four shots and pulled down 11 rebounds, an effort that moved him into third place in school history with a career total of 527 boards.
