Carson, Weide Advance to State

The Viking wrestlers advanced two grapplers on to state at Saturday's WIAA Sectional Championship. David Carson and Amos Weide both advanced by virtue of second-place finishes in their respective weight classes. Carson (113) defeated Whitnall's Matao Chavarria 14-4 by technical fall, then knocked off Wilmot's Gianni Reballato 6-4 by fall. He fell to undefeated champion Connor O'Donnell of South Milwaukee 10-3, but claimed his spot at state with a no contest victory over Chavarria for second place. Weide (195) won 8-4 by fall over Trae Ford of Union Grove, then bested Angelo Rivera of West Allis Central 12-7 by fall. Champion Sam Paar of Oak Creek got the better of him, but he bounced back to defeat Brookfield East's Aaron Botsch 10-4 by fall to earn a trip to state.
