Wrestlers Conclude Season at State Championship
Two Viking wrestlers, Amos Weide ('21) and David Carson ('21), capped their seasons and careers with an appearance at the WIAA State Individual Championships on Saturday, February 13 at Kaukauna High School. Amos (195) placed 5th. He won his quarterfinal match over Roman Martell of Oshkosh West by fall in 3:45. He then fell in 4:58 to eventual runner-up Rudy Detweiler of Stoughton in the semifinals before bouncing back to defeat Gage Timm of Shawano by fall in 3:53 to claim fifth place.
David (113) faced a tough draw. He lost his quarterfinal match to eventual fourth-place finisher Easton Cooper of D.C. Everest by fall in 4:21. He then lost his first wrestleback match 16-5 by major decision to Tyler Klein of Hartford, the eventual third-place finisher. David placed seventh.
