Error Proves Costly in Loss to Tosa East

The Viking baseball team dropped a tough one to Wauwatosa East on Saturday afternoon, falling 7-5 to the Red Raiders at Breitlow Field.

Zach Adams scored the game's first run on an error in the top of the 1st. East tied the game with an RBI double in the 3rd and pulled ahead 3-1 on a wild pitch and an RBI single in the 4th. Wisco battled back to tie it on Eddie Rynders two-run double in the top of the 5th and re-took the lead when Lucas Oswald delivered a two-out single to plate Rynders from second.

But the Raiders would score the decisive runs in the bottom of the inning. After loading the bases with one out, a double coupled with an error allowed all three runners to score and make it a 6-3 game. A wild pitch later in the inning would allow East to tack on another run.

The Vikings mounted a threat in the 7th. Zach Adams drew a one-out walk, Ryder Derouin singled, and Oswald was hit by a pitch to load the bases for Mason Ruh, who worked a six-pitch base on balls to score a run and make it 7-5. But East got the last two batters on a strikeout and a fly to center to clinch the victory.

Rynders drove in a team-high two runs, while Adams drew a pair of walks and scored two runs. Nathan Sievert was the pitcher of record on the mound.

Wisco returns to conference play on Monday when they face Greendale at The Rock.
