Softball Downs Pius

Another strong offensive effort powered the Wisco softball team to its fifth victory in six games, this one a 10-4 win over Pius XI at Rainbow Park on Thursday afternoon.

Melissa Tonn helped her own cause by driving in the game's first run, a single to score Emily Buch in the top of the 1st. The floodgates opened in the 2nd, as Kylie Bilitz, Buch, Eden Rader, and Katie Meyer all drove in runs - with one more scoring on a passed ball - to put the Vikings up 6-0. The Popes scored twice in the 3rd, but the offense had the answer in the bottom half of the inning. Buch smacked a solo home run to center field, which Rader and Meyer followed up with back-to-back doubles to make it 8-2. A two-run single from Tabitha Fromm in the bottom of the 6th provided the final margin.

Tonn picked up the win in the circle, striking out 8 in a complete-game effort while also knocking out three hits at the plate. Buch and Meyer continued to swing hot bats; each of them enjoyed multi-hit games while driving in a pair. And Fromm and Chloe Koschnitzke picked up two hits apiece as the Vikings showed depth throughout the batting order.

Wisco travels to New Berlin Eisenhower on May 21. They will take on the Lions at 4:30 PM.
