Softball Triumphs in the Rain

The skies eventually opened up, but it was the Viking softball team that rained down runs, as they triumphed 9-1 at New Berlin Eisenhower in a game that was called after 5 innings because of rain.

Another hot start by the offense ensured a win, the team's sixth victory in seven games. Wisco cashed in on a bases loaded, nobody out situation in the top of the 1st inning, with a two-run single by Melissa Tonn and a bases-loaded walk by Lauren Braatz gave them a 3-0 advantage. Emily Buch homered to lead off the 2nd, and the runs piled up from there. The Vikings plated one run on an error, two more on an RBI double by Tabitha Fromm, and one last run on a sac fly from Chloe Koschnitzke to take an 8-0 lead after two innings and effectively seal the game.

Tonn went 3-4 at the plate and drove in 2 runs, in addition to allowing just 3 hits and striking out 4 in the circle. Buch was 2-3 with a walk while Fromm and Braatz drove in 2 runs apiece.

The Vikings travel to Whitnall on Monday, May 24.
