Softball Walks Off Greendale

Leah Pinnow's double in the bottom of the 8th inning scored Melissa Tonn from second base and delivered a dramatic 1-0 victory in extra innings for the Wisco softball team.

Greendale came into the contest tied with New Berlin West atop the Woodland West Conference standings. But Tonn shut the Panthers down, striking out 7 and allowing just 4 hits and 1 walk in a complete game effort.

Meanwhile, the Vikings were putting runners on base but couldn't cash in. The team stranded a pair of runners in the 3rd and the 4th, and loaded the bases with one out in the 6th, but back-to-back strikeouts send them away empty handed. In all, Wisco knocked out 7 hits in the first 7 innings, but could not break through until extras. Tonn led off the bottom of the 8th with a double, and Pinnow laced the first pitch she saw to right field to bring her home with the winning run.

Wisco will travel to conference-leading (and seventh-ranked) New Berlin West on June 3 for a 4:30 PM game.
