Comeback Win Moves Vikings to 2-0

The Wisco football team overcame a 21-7 deficit on Friday night, scoring 23 unanswered points on their way to a 30-21 victory at Waukesha North.

Zach Tipton's 8-yard touchdown run got the Vikings on the board late in the first quarter, but the Northstars scored with 3:33 left in the second quarter and then stuffed Wisco on the goal line as time expired to go into the locker room up by 14.

But the second half belonged to the visitors. A 21-yard TD pass from Tipton to Akeem Allen in the third quarter halved the deficit. The Vikings forged ahead 22-21 early in the fourth quarter when Jaxon Raabe scored on a 4-yard run from the Wildcat formation and Kamarion Burbridge converted the two-point conversion. Micarian Williams picked off a North pass on the ensuing drive and James Sutter delivered the knockout punch with a 59-yard touchdown run. Burbridge ran the conversion in again to make it 30-21 Wisco and provide the final margin.

Sutter rushed for 109 yards and Burbridge added 107 as the Vikings outgained the Northstars 304-92 on the ground. They also enjoyed air superiority - Tipton threw for 81 yards and Raabe passed for 37, for a 118-91 advantage through the air. A box score is available here.

The Vikings are now 2-0 on the season. They open Woodland Conference play on Friday, September 3, when they host Shorewood/Messmer at Raabe Stadium.
