Morning Assembly - September 29

This year WLHS will present an assembly each quarter that addresses topics relevant to challenges and temptations our students face. The first assembly was held today. We are thankful to Pastor Huebner who led a devotion, and two Milwaukee Police Department detectives and students speakers who addressed the assembly. They spoke on matters of Christian purity and the temptations prevalent in our world including:
•    the danger and legal ramifications and consequences of sexting and sending inappropriate pictures
•    how SnapChat is not as private as you think
•    what is sexual harassment/assault
•    what is consent (not just to sex but other sexual acts)
•    what constitutes a rape
•    how do statutory issues of age play into this
•    what legal consequences can follow harassment and sexual assault

The morning assembly was meant to warn, to inform, and to encourage. Obviously, these were weighty topics, and we know that they affect our students. While we will continue to treat these issues in the light of God’s Word, we also want our students to know how the law of the land to which we owe allegiance also addresses these matters.
