Boys XC Qualifies for State

The boys cross country team saved its best performance for the most crucial time, putting together its strongest effort of the season to finish 2nd at the WIAA Sectional Championship on Saturday in Brookfield. The runner-up finish advances the team to the WIAA State Championship. The team returns to state after a one-year absence, and has now qualified in 12 out of the last 13 years.

Silas Ebeling led the team with a 6th place finish in 16:02.5. The 2-3 tandem of Nick Wendl (10th, 16:22.3) and Michael Miller (12th, 16:23.3), helped solidify the team's position. And the 4-5 pairing of Jacob Alejandro (19th, 16:43.1) and Quincy Kehoe (20th, 16:43.3) sealed things up with excellent races. Joey Merrill (17:43.5) and Sam Goede (18:30.0) finished off the team's effort.

Full sectional results are available here. Those seven runners advance to compete at the state championship in Wisconsin Rapids. Race time is 12:35 PM on Saturday, October 30.
