Vikings Come Up Just Short at Falls

The girls basketball team suffered its first setback of the season on Saturday night, dropping a 71-67 contest at Menomonee Falls in the championship game of the Phoenix's Thanksgiving Tournament.

The Vikings fell behind 39-27 after a half of action. They cut into the Falls lead after the break and had the ball down by four with just under 20 seconds to play. But they were unable to convert, the Phoenix connected on two free throws, and a Wisco basket just before the buzzer provided the final margin.

Jazz Smith led the team with a season-high 23 points. She was joined in double figures by Jayla Rankin and Laila Hamiel, who scored 11 apiece. A box score is available here.

The team heads to Lakeside Lutheran for a non-conference matchup on Tuesday, November 30.
