Vikings Open Season With Victory

The Wisco basketball team started the 2021-22 campaign on the right foot with an 81-51 win over visiting Fond du Lac in a non-conference matchup. Quick hands and strong pressure pushed the Vikings to victory, as they came up with 15 steals and forced 25 turnovers on the night.

Jordan Glenn, returning to the floor for the first time since collapsing at Menomonee Falls 10 months ago, scored the first four baskets of the game for Wisco as the team opened up a 19-6 advantage in the game's first seven minutes. The Cardinals crept to within seven points a few minutes later, but a 14-7 run sent the Vikings into the locker room up 40-21. The team was never seriously threatened in the second half and worked 14 players into the game, with 13 of them scoring.

Glenn led the team with 20 points and added four rebounds, four steals, and two assists in 22 minutes of action. Kon Knueppel connected three times from behind the arc en route to 19 points and six rebounds. Josh Knueppel scored eight points off the bench. And Jamiir Allen filled the box score with a well-rounded effort. He scored seven points, grabbed six rebounds, handed out five assists, and came up with four steals as he and Glenn keyed the Vikings' defensive attack. More stats are available here.

Wisco hosts Notre Dame Academy as part of the Viking Classic on Friday, December 3. Those two teams will play at WLC at 8:00 PM, with Mayville and Lakeside Lutheran squaring off beforehand.
