Vikings Trounce Tritons

The Wisco boys basketball team improved to 2-0 on the season with a 79-43 win over Notre Dame Academy in the 2021 Viking Classic at Wisconsin Lutheran College. A season-high 12 three-pointers and a defense that forced 21 turnovers powered the Vikings to victory.

Wisco started hot, scoring the game's first eight points. After two baskets for the Tritons, the Vikings put together a 23-4 run in which they forced eight turnovers and connected five times from behind the arc. Landon Key was behind two of those makes from downtown, as eight of his season-high 12 points came during the run. Wisco went into the locker room at halftime up 40-15 and was never seriously threatened in the second half.

Kon Knueppel led the team with 18 points and grabbed 11 rebounds for his first double-double of the season; his three assists tied Key for the team-high on the night. Key's 12 points came on 5-of-8 shooting from the field; he added three boards and three assists. Jordan Glenn scored 11 points and pulled down six rebounds, and Grayson Young contributed 11 points, three steals, and three deflections off the bench.

The Vikings shot 48% from the three-point arc and outrebounded the Tritons 35-25. More stats are available here.

Wisco plays its first road game of the season on Tuesday, December 7, when they travel to Milwaukee King for a 7:00 PM contest with the Generals.
