Viking Defense Stops Generals

The Wisco boys basketball team improved to 3-0 on the season with a 75-52 triumph at Milwaukee King on Tuesday night. A strong first half set the Vikings up for their third straight win by 20 or more points.

Jordan Glenn and Landon Key helped get the team going early. Glenn scored 10 of his team high 13 points before halftime and Key added seven of his own as the Vikings shot 61% in the first half. Meanwhile, the defense held King to just 26% from the floor and forced 16 turnovers over the same span, as Wisco took a 42-18 lead into the locker room. The Generals briefly narrowed the lead to 16 points in the second half, but the Vikings quickly pushed the lead to 30, at 70-40, before coasting in with the win.

A balanced effort ruled the day on offense, as four Vikings scored in double figures with one more just missing out. Glenn led the team with 13 points and added five assists and four steals. Key scored 11 points and grabbed 3 rebounds. Kon Knueppel added 10 points and five boards, and Alex Hernandez put up a season high 10 points. London Ashford just missed, with a nine-point effort off the bench, and Jamiir Allen kept the offense rolling with a season-best seven assists and helped key the defense with three steals. Wisco forced a total of 30 turnovers in the victory and got scoring contributions from 12 different players.
