Vikings Top Eagles in Non-Conference Battle

The Viking basketball team improved to 5-0 on the season with an 89-69 win over visiting Racine Case in non-conference action. A career-high 28 points from Kon Knueppel helped Wisco stay unbeaten.

A 9-0 Wisco run pushed the lead from five points to 14 points with just under 10 minutes remaining in the first half. The Eagles answered with a run of their own to cut the lead to four at 30-26, but the Vikings pulled away to lead 52-41 heading into the locker room.

A 21-5 run out of the locker room extended the Wisco lead to 73-46 with 12 minutes remaining. Knueppel connected on three of his six three-point shots on the night during that run, which sealed the outcome. Case's starters played the rest of the night and briefly cut the lead to 19 against the Wisco bench, but got no closer.

Knueppel's 28 points came on 10-15 shooting, including 6-9 from behind the three-point arc. He added nine rebounds to lead the team. Jordan Glenn added 13 points to go along with five rebounds, five steals, and three assists. Alex Hernandez scored 11 points and Jamiir Allen handed out a team-high four assists. The Vikings shot 54% from the floor and connected on 18 of 22 from the charity stripe.
