Boys Basketball Earns Win #900

A strong second half powered the Viking basketball team to a win at West Allis Central and a program milestone: Wisconsin Lutheran earned its 900th win in program history with the 90-72 triumph over the Bulldogs. Tuesday night's action concluded the game, which was suspended after four minutes of action back in January.

Central led by 3 late in the first half before the Vikings found the range from long distance. A pair of threes from Josh Knueppel, plus triples from Landon Key and Prentice Young, and an old-fashioned three-point play from Jamiir Allen, powered a 17-7 run that sent Wisco into the locker room up 41-35. The team continued to rip the nets in the second half, connecting on their first five attempts from behind the arc to open up a 15-point lead just six minutes in. The lead crested at 21 as the Vikings scored 49 points after halftime.

Much of the scoring came from Jordan Glenn, who shot 10-11 from the floor (with the one missed shot coming back in January). That included a 4-5 effort from long distance, and he ended the night with a team-high 26 points. Allen added 16 points, five rebounds, and a team-high five assists. Kon Knueppel scored 13 points and paced the team with seven rebounds and three blocks. Alex Hernandez grabbed six boards and scored 11 points, and Prentice Young enjoyed a solid all-around game with 10 points, three assists, and two steals.

The Vikings turned the ball over just five times, while forcing the hosts into 16 miscues, something that helped offset Central's 43-41 advantage on the glass. They also shot 57% in the second half while holding the Bulldogs to 45% over the same stretch. More stats are available here. Wisco travels to Greendale on Friday, February 11.
