Vikings Close Out Regular Season With Victory

The Vikings concluded the regular season in resounding fashion, scoring 58 points in the first half and holding visiting South Milwaukee to just 10 points in the second half in a 92-35 win over the Rockets on Wednesday night.

A 17-2 run early in the first half pushed Wisco out in front 27-10. Josh Knueppel connected twice from behind the arc during that run, which gave him the WLHS all-time record for three-pointers in a season (58, breaking Andy Ohm's record from 1991).

Twelve different Vikings scored on the night. Landon Key was a perfect 5-5 from the field for 12 points. Alex Hernandez matched him with 12 points of his own and Jamiir Allen added not only 12 points but also five assists and five steals. Kon Knueppel scored 9 points and grabbed a team-high 8 rebounds, and Grayson Young scored 9 points and came up with 3 steals. The Vikings shot 56%, held the Rockets to 27%, and forced 28 turnovers, 22 of which came on steals.

More stats are available here. The Vikings end the regular season with a record of 22-2. They open WIAA postseason play at home on Friday, March 4. They will host the winner of the Shorewood-Tenor/Veritas game.
