Baseball Tops Thomas More

The Wisco baseball team earned its fourth straight victory with an 8-2 win over Saint Thomas More on Saturday, part of a PBR showcase at The Rock.

The Cavaliers got on the board first, as a two-out RBI single put them up 1-0 in the top of the 2nd. But the Viking bats responded in the bottom of the frame. With a runner on first, Jaxon Raabe homered to left to give Wisco a 2-1 advantage, and they would not trail again. Zach Adams drew a bases-loaded walk next inning and Carlos Walta brought home two more runs with a double to stretch the lead to 5-1. After Saint Thomas More scored an unearned run in the 5th, Ryder Derouin went deep for the second time in as many days and Walta chipped in with his second 2-RBI hit of the day, a single to center to make it 8-2.

Walta's two hits and four RBIs paced the team offensively. Logan Abramowski also enjoyed a multi-hit day, going 2-4 with a stolen base. Jake Ross was stellar on the mound, allowing just one earned run and striking out five in five innings of work. Lucas Oswald worked two scoreless innings in relief.

The Vikings take on New Berlin Eisenhower twice next week, both night games at The Rock. They will be the visiting team on Tuesday, April 19 (7:30 start) and will be the home team on Thursday, April 21 (7:45 start).
