Viking Christian Leaders: Gratitude

Congratulations to Carlos Ferreira Lopez ('23) and Isabelle Steidl ('23), who were selected as Viking Christian Leaders for the month of November under “The Wisco Way Word": Gratitude. We thank God for the way Carlos and Isabelle have modeled servant leadership at school and in the community. Any student or staff member may nominate a student for the Viking Christian Leaders Award which is presented each month to one young man and one young woman.
Carlos is from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and he is a member at Centennial Lutheran Church. He attended grade school at Word of Life Lutheran School.

Currently a senior at Wisco, Carlos has participated in WWW, VCLA, NHS, Art Club, and College Possible. He has also served as a mentor to an international student and helped with the grade school summer art camp.

Carlos has volunteered at Word of Life during the summer by cleaning out classrooms and helping in the tech department. He has also helped the church with garden work over the summer.

In his spare time, Carlos enjoys hanging out with friends, watching movies at the theater, helping others however he can, and working on ceramics and art.

After graduation from Wisconsin Lutheran High School, Carlos is considering majoring in art education.

Carlos characterizes gratitude in Christian leadership as showing appreciation toward everything everyone does to make an impact in your life and thanking God throughout the troubles we go through.

Isabelle is from New Berlin, Wisconsin. She is a member at St. Paul’s in Muskego, where she attended grade school.

Currently a senior at Wisco, Isabelle has participated in volleyball, Wisco Kids, choir, the musical, Art Club, WWW, Student Council, VCLA, and NHS. She also went on a mission trip to Texas and serves on the Global Leadership Team.

Isabelle has volunteered at Star of Bethlehem by coaching volleyball and basketball. She also baby sits during services at church.

In her spare time, Isabelle enjoys being outside, spending time with family and friends, trying new things, keeping busy, and getting to know new people.

After graduation from Wisconsin Lutheran High School, Isabelle plans to major in elementary education at Martin Luther College.

Isabelle characterizes gratitude in Christian leadership as choosing joy in Christ rather than focusing on the obstacles life throws your way.
