Summer Trades Academy Orientation + Fall Builders Program Opportunities
We’re excited to share some amazing opportunities for your students through WRTP | BIG STEP!
We are inviting all current high school juniors and seniors to join us for one of our Summer Trades Academy (STA) Orientation Sessions. These sessions are designed to:
- Go over final program logistics
- Distribute STA schedules
- Complete mandatory liability forms
- Accept missing documents and final applications for eligibility
- Provide more details for any students still interested in joining
Orientation Dates:- May 12th @ 5:00 PM
- May 19th @ 5:00 PM
- May 27th @ 5:00 PM
Location: WRTP | BIG STEP – 3841 W Wisconsin Ave, Milwaukee, WI 53208
These sessions are open to students and their families, including those who have already applied and those who would still like to learn more.
Special Note for Current Seniors:After the general orientation, we will be speaking with current seniors about an additional opportunity through our Youth ELCS Program — a workforce readiness program tailored for recent graduates.
Now Recruiting: BIG STEP BUILDERS – Fall 2025 CohortsPlease help us spread the word early! We're recruiting now for our Fall 2025 Big Step Builders cohorts:
- Cohort 1: Orientation – August 28th @ 5:00 PM | Program starts – September 6th
- Cohort 2: Orientation – October 30th @ 5:00 PM | Program starts – November 1st
Big Step Builders is a hands-on weekend program that introduces high school students to union construction trades, application readiness, and real-world jobsite skills.
Eligibility Note:- Current sophomores (10th grade) are welcome to apply — they will be considered juniors in the fall
- Current juniors will be seniors in the fall and are also eligible
