Celebrating Black History Month 2026

WLHS celebrated Black History Month on February 11 with a school-wide assembly centered on the theme Rebuilding Our Legacy — Standing on the Roots, honoring the 100th anniversary of Black History Month. Assistant Principal CL Whiteside ('06) opened the program with a meaningful message about Jesus being the roots and foundation for us all, setting the tone for a celebration of history, hope, and positive change. Students shared their talents through songs, original poetry, step and dance performances, gospel choir, and other creative presentations. We are truly blessed to celebrate the many cultures represented within our student body and the gifts they bring to Wisco.
A special thank you to the more than 60 students who participated in the assembly and to Mrs. Shakirah Cousins for organizing our program.
