Rock Climbing Team Wins First State Championship

The WLHS Rock Climbing Team had an incredible showing at the State Championship, competing against 40 schools and bringing home the 2025–26 State Title! Fourteen climbers represented Wisco, with seven athletes advancing to finals and placing in the top five of their divisions. Highlights include 1st place finishes by Caden Schaffer ('27), Ella Bollmeier ('26), and Mikalojus Gurgel ('27), along with standout performances from Evan Meister ('29), Anna Ognenoff ('26), Mina Schaffer ('27), and Canaan Benninghoff ('29).
This achievement reflects months of dedication, with students training since September—and in just three years, the program has grown into one of the most competitive teams in the state. The team’s success is especially meaningful as Talia Meister ('26), who founded the club, prepares to graduate. What began with one student’s passion and initiative has grown into something truly remarkable.

Even more impressive has been the team’s character and Christ-centered sportsmanship—encouraging one another, supporting competitors, and representing Wisco with humility and grace.
