Celebrating School Choice and Student Success

On January 27, WLHS President Ken Fisher joined school leaders at the National School Choice Week Rally in Madison, to highlight the impact of school choice for Wisconsin families. School Choice Wisconsin Action invited President Fisher to meet with bipartisan members of legislature and share how school choice helps students thrive and why it’s important to celebrate this program’s success across the state.

With more than 60,000 students enrolled in Wisconsin’s four private school choice programs and 406 participating schools statewide, families are choosing educational environments that best fit their children’s needs.
President Fisher emphasized how school choice supports families by expanding access to quality education, uplifting student outcomes, and empowering parents to make decisions that work for their children. Increased funding in recent years has helped close resource gaps, allowing schools to invest in students and teachers where it matters most.

Reflecting on bipartisan support in Madison, President Fisher quoted, “It’s really about every child having access to a school that works for them and empowering parents to choose schools that match their values.”

Joined by policymakers including State Senator John Jagler and Representative Jessie Rodriguez, the rally underscored that education should be about opportunity and choice for all families—public, private, or charter. Through school choice, Wisconsin families have more educational pathways and a brighter future for every child.
