A Busy Semester in World Languages

It has been an exciting semester in the World Language Department! Students have explored language and culture through a variety of engaging experiences, including the “Locura de Marzo” Latin music competition, discussions about global moments like the World Baseball Classic and a Spanish-language movie night featuring In the Heights—complete with churros and chocolate.

In the classroom, students are going beyond the basics. Even novice learners have begun reading books in the target language, while upper-level students are discussing global issues and cultural perspectives across the Spanish-speaking world.
Looking ahead, upper-level German and Spanish classes are planning spring field trips and preparing to welcome 16 visiting students from Ecuador, creating a meaningful opportunity to practice language skills and build cross-cultural connections.
