Four WLHS Seniors Named National Merit Scholarship Commended Students
Wisconsin Lutheran High School is pleased to recognize seniors Abigail Daley, Simon Doerr, Zizhou Gong, and Payton Thiesenhusen as Commended Students in the 2027 National Merit Scholarship Program. Commended Students are recognized for their exceptional academic promise and placed among the top 50,000 students nationwide who entered the 2027 competition by taking the 2025 PSAT/NMSQT. About 34,000 students across the country earned Commended Student recognition this year. While Commended Students will not continue in the competition for National Merit Scholarship awards, this distinction recognizes their outstanding performance on the qualifying test.
A spokesperson for the National Merit Scholarship Corporation noted that these students have demonstrated “outstanding potential for academic success” and expressed hope that the recognition will help broaden their educational opportunities as they continue their academic pursuits.
