Mi Familia es Mi Hogar: Wisco Celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month
On October 15, Wisconsin Lutheran High School concluded Hispanic Heritage Month with a special assembly under the theme, Mi familia es mi hogar (“My family is my home”). It reminded students that home is more than a place—it's the people, faith, memories, and traditions that shape who we are.
The program opened with a devotion by Mr. Micah Hernandez ('01) and featured a wonderful variety of student-led presentations and performances. Students shared meaningful family traditions, including a lively quinceañera demonstration highlighting this important coming-of-age celebration.
Music and dance brought the assembly to life!
Students performed La Raíz de mi Tierra, shared a family video about preparing traditional empanadillas, and entertained the audience with a popular dance. A special guest demonstrated the impressive art of Mexican trick roping, while a presentation and dance featuring Puerto Rican bomba and plena highlighted the powerful connection between music, heritage, and family.
Throughout the assembly, students shared personal stories and traditions passed down through generations, reminding us that although our backgrounds and celebrations may differ, the love of family and the memories we carry unite us.
Thank you to the students, performers, and staff who helped make this celebration such a meaningful experience for our Wisco family!
