Welcoming New International Students to the WLHS Community
WLHS welcomed 20 new international students this August to the school community.
During orientation, new students explored Milwaukee on a city tour, participated in sessions with WLHS teachers and advisers, settled into the dormitory, and met their American student mentors. These activities helped students learn how to be successful WLHS students, become familiar with school expectations and resources, and begin building connections within the Wisco community. Members of the WLHS Global Leadership Team (a team of international and U.S. students) also helped organize and support orientation activities, playing an important role in welcoming the new students to Wisco.
This fall, the WLHS dormitory welcomes students from 17 countries, including three nations joining our community for the first time: Australia, Bolivia, and Rwanda. Students also represent Brazil, China, Germany, Japan, Kazakhstan, Pakistan, Peru, South Korea, Spain, Tanzania, Thailand, USA, Vietnam, and Zimbabwe. We are excited to welcome students from these diverse backgrounds and continue building a global community at Wisco!
Classes began on August 17. As students settle into their academic routines and become part of the WLHS community, we look forward to a new year of learning, friendship, and growth together!
